Latest News - July 2008!

FRIDAY @ FIVE!

The first Friday @ Five for 2008 was held on June 20 at the Spray Mercantile Courtyard Garden. This was also the final farewell for Cindy Adams who will be the new Coordinator of Tourism & Special Projects/Events for the City of Eden. Ed Holbrook spoke about her accomplishments at the Chamber and all she had done to make the Chamber of Commerce more visible to Rockingham County and more viable to Eden. She was presented with a plaque showing that a tree will be planted in Freedom Park in her honor and also a bouquet of roses.

Cindy thanked individuals by name for being instrumental in helping her become the best President of the Chamber that she could possibly be. She encouraged everyone in attendance to support the Chamber because they are the Chamber. The Chamber can only become what the members want it to be.

Music was provided by Malcolm Allen and the Posse. The delicious food was catered by Red River Grill.

We would like to thank the sponsors of this Friday @ Five:

WYNDHAM CHAMPIONSHIP PARTNERS WITH PIEDMONT TRIAD CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE!

The Wyndham Championship is taking another step in the regionalization of the Tournament by partnering with Piedmont Triad Chambers of Commerce to sell ticket packages throughout the region, it was announced on June 12.

Twenty-two area chambers of commerce will sell ticket packages to their membership for the PGA TOUR event set for its return to Sedgefield Country Club August 11 - 17. The Wyndham Championship will then contribute a percentage of the proceeds back to the Chambers of Commerce that sold the packages.

"Our Piedmont Triad Chambers of Commerce do a great deal to promote our region," Tournament Director Mark Brazil said. "As they promote our region, they support the Wyndham Championship in the process, and we appreciate what they do. Through this innovative program, we are able to return their support by providing additional funds for their efforts."

"This new chamber package for tickets to the Wyndham Championship is truly a win-win," Tom Dayvault, President and CEO of the High Point Chamber of Commerce said. "The Wyndham has new business leaders from throughout the Triad embracing this historic PGA TOUR event, and this partnership gives the various chambers an additional discounted opportunity to provide to their membership. Moving the tournament back to Sedgefield insures our PGA TOUR event will remain the top professional sporting event in the Triad.

The 2008 Wyndham Championship is set for August 11 - 17 in Greensboro, NC. Tickets are available online at www.wyndhamchampionship.com or through the tournament office. The tournament thanks title sponsor Wyndham Worldwide and Premier Partners, AIG, BB&T Cadillac, Harris Teeter, and VP Corporation for their continued support. Additional tournament information is available at:

www.wyndhamchampionship.com or through the tournament office at (336) 379-1570.
