Nedra Galloway Receives BEE Award at UNC Health Rockingham for Extraordinary Patient Care

EDEN, N.C., April 21, 2025 – Nedra Galloway, a certified nurse aid at UNC Health Rockingham, was honored with the BEE award for Extraordinary Patient Care. Galloway has worked at the hospital for nearly four years of her twenty-five-year career as a CNA. She was nominated by a teammate for her delightful personality and willingness to always jump in and help. They described her as an energetic, helpful and bubbly person and they attributed these qualities to being able to build rapport with patients and their families.  Galloway’s teammate described her as “a breath of fresh air, even on the worst of days.”

Along with nursing and hospital leadership, Galloway’s significant other was in attendance. Upon receiving the award Galloway said, “It means a lot to be recognized. I appreciate our teamwork on the in-patient unit and all that my teammates do so much to help me.”

When asked what brings her the most joy in her work, Galloway stated, “It’s the people. My teammates, my patients and the stories I gets to hear while caring for them – they all bring me joy. I love what I do every day.”  

The BEE award is presented throughout the year to honor the extraordinary care provided by non-nursing support staff that go above and beyond to make an impact outside their daily duties. The support of other care providers is the foundation upon which a patient’s healthcare team can maintain phenomenal care and advocacy. Just as the Daisy cannot survive without the Bee, the nurses cannot survive without the outstanding teamwork provided by other healthcare professionals.
